Just a few things I was thinking, since writing does not equal thinking and I don't feel like doing either one at this point:
Sometimes I swear that Oiltanker are the best live band in Connecticut.
Oiltanker have a brand new six-song 7" EP, "Crusades", out on Bullshit Propaganda/Rats of the Capitol (last Saturday was the record release show, at Whitney House).
By request, Oiltanker covered "Breaking the Law" last Saturday, which was awesome. They almost know how to play it, too.
Escalator's set was one of the top five or six sets I've seen at Whitney House this year, without question. Way more speedy and sharp compared to their set at Whitney two weeks earlier.
Since 2009 is over, here's a list (in order) of my favorite Whitney House sets from last year, anyway:
Clusterfuck, July 4th 2009
Cult Ritual, July 1 2009
Sister Kisser, May 23 2009
Oiltanker, any night
Swear Jar, July 21 2009
Escalator, December 26 2009
Here's a couple of songs, from the Escalator demo and the new Oiltanker 7".
