If you're into amped-up AmRep shit then these are some of the best fuckin' two-minute rock songs, ever. I'm not too sure how well-remembered Thee Hydrogen Terrors are these days, though a lot of people (me included) sure seemed to like it when Pissed Jeans started doing a similar thing-- see "Code Name: Coed"-- about ten years later. So there you go.

Aye, aye, shitbuckets! One of my favorite relics of that ol' Provo(dence) sound... funny enough, I just rebought this LP from a cutout bin for $4 on the weekend and was tingling with anticipation to finally blast Radio to Saturn Vs. Hackamore Brick on the hi-fi! Fuck yeah, timing!
So I thought I'd check the internet to see if I could find a digital copy of their Erotic Adventures 12"... no such luck... you wouldn't... I shouldn't... could you... well... if you can...
Fun Facts:
-A swell interview with the band is in Chunklet uh, #11?
-Front-man G.B. directed the video for Parlor Games by Six Finger Satellite
-Most of the band was formed outta the trashbin of Von Ryan's Express who had hit singles on Sub Pop and Load
Henry at Chunklet was onto the whole Providence thing well before most people...
The first Hydrogen Terrors 12", I'll have to what I can do (I think Load's still got the CD listed on their up-to-the-minute 2007 web site, right?).
I see you've got the Anthrax thing up. So I'm confused--it's a trailer for a book? Is the visual stuff gonna be a movie, too? Or did they tape some of the interviews strictly for a book trailer? I see you got in there, nice. And our 16th president, Malcolm. But no Bruce--boooooo. Was Bruce's stuff cut out to make room for Moby?
I think only about 20 sit-down interviews were videotaped, out of dozens more that were done by e-mail or over the phone. So, there's the potential for a documentary, but I think the trailer was made to stand alone as an interesting visual for promoting just the book.
I think I read that they're only printing 2000 books at first, so based upon that I'm guessing that the time and budget needed for a documentary aren't available right now.
I was hoping to see Bruce in the trailer, too, because his stuff was great-- but I'm sure the book will have a lot more written transcripts from the interviews.
The mp3 files on this post are now listen-only (non-downloadable) files. They are now being hosted on my Vox account (accessible through any of the above listen-only links), along with one other track from the LP which wasn't included in the original post.
For those of you who missed the boat, I will do my best to respond to any e-mailed requests for the original files.
I love this record. It's fucking awesome. And it's got the only spoken credits I've ever heard on any record anywhere. I'm sure somebody could steer me towards someone else who's done that, but this is the only one that I know.
I borrowed this from a great friend of mine Alison Speights, the raddest girl in Northampton. MA where I was living at the time. Alison had the greatest taste in music and was just the best. I had THT-TD&PR for about six months and was in full on every day mode at home with it, when the big bummer hit.
Alison decided to move to California AND asked me for the record back. I got it to her the day before her going away party. When I showed up the next night for that crazy outpouring of Alison love, she told me she had a present for me.
She had asked for the record back just to wrap it up and give it to me, so it would be mine "properly".
Totally the most awesome, classy move. It's one of my prize possessions and my favorite pieces of vinyl. Got it on loud now.
That's a great story...
I hear these guys are reuniting for a show to benefit john jacobsen on 10/4/2014
