Puking Up My Guts

Yet another 7"-er that I bought back in the mid-90's mostly because the packaging was cool, plus I figured any band named after Pittsburgh Pirates hurler Dock Ellis oughta be worth listening to at least once (Ellis, somewhat famously, once threw a no-hitter while tripping on acid, and then another time tried to hit every batter in the Cincinnati Reds' line-up, getting as far as plunking the first three before being pulled from the game).

And while it's definitely a relic from the grunge era, this is still a serviceable record. I'll give the Stich side a pass for now and say that the Dock Ellis song, "When I'm Waiting", is pretty good, even if the band did have their whole career to write it (their newly-minted MySpace reads, "Dock Ellis: 1991-1995"). Plus Dock Ellis show admirable restraint by holding back the guitar solo until almost four minutes into a five-minute song (yes, 5:00!!). I mean, you could most likely fit the entire Jackshit discography on a five-minute record and still have time left over, but then the sleeve probably wouldn't be as nice.
