I don't know what it is about this record. I mean, I think Teeth put together a particularly good single here: colored vinyl, nice picture sleeve with sharp-looking typefaces and a neat design, cool-looking labels, and two pretty decent songs. Yet it seems like I'm always finding this single in the clearance bin, or on Dr. Strange's $1 Sale... once I even had a collector that I was recently buying some odd 7"-ers from offer to throw in a Teeth single for free, just to get rid of it. On top of that, there's now about 8 other bands on MySpace named Teeth, and there's even a movie out called Teeth. (I guess all that means is, when it comes time to sit down and come up with a name for your band, it pays to think a little harder.)
Anyway, I liked this single when I first reviewed it back in '95, and I still like it today. "Marathon Man" is a good, churning, Naked Raygun/Pegboy-style punk song, so for Teeth's sake, why not give it a listen.

Wow, there's a blast from the past. I saw them play a gazillion times when I was in college, but this is probably the first time I've thought of them in a decade. Cool stuff.
Arizona never seemed like much of a punk hot spot to me, but I know I've got at least one other AZ thing in my box o' singles that you might find interesting.
Yeah, never really fertile ground down there. I can only think of a handful of bands (from my time there) that attracted (or deserved) any notice beyond the state's borders. Nonetheless, I'll be curious to see what other AZ stuff you have -- I'm trying to think of other bands that might have been worthwhile from back then...
Not to overlook the Phoenix scene of the 80's, with JFA and stuff like that, but yeah, I don't really recall too many breakout Arizona punk bands in the 90's.
I mean, people kept telling me that the Weird Lovemakers were good but I never got around to checking them out, which is my fault for being lazy I guess.
I used to read a really great AZ punk zine in the 90's called Cactus Prick, and because of that I picked up one or two good AZ punk records, but that's it.

oh, yeah. I definitely meant specifically the time when I was there... I was post-JFA and Meat Puppets and whoever else.
I remember the name Cactus Prick but not any of the details -- one of the many chunks of brain cells that have gone missing in the past 15 years.
I only clarified which era we were talking about because I didn't want some nerd to come on here and go, "Hey, you guys forgot about the Zany Guys!" or something.
Y'know, like how I forgot about "Skins Brains & Guts" when I said that Part Time Christians and the Crucifucks were about the only good records Alternative Tentacles put out in the early '80s...
